I decided yesterday to change the name of my blog, yet again, so that I wasn’t just dropping everything into a subdomain of my family site. So, with that in mind, I decided to call the the “new” blog FlexOOP (pronounced just as it looks flex – oop, sounds similar to flex “zoop” ). A coworker of mine used to run cfoop (a ColdFusion Object Oriented site), and, while my coding may not always be the best OOP, I always strive to make it that way, thus the birth of flexOOP.com

Yeah, that didn’t take long, did it. I was browsing around trying to figure out how a spam bot managed to find my site (I only managed to get it up and running myself recently), and checked out Google, when lo-and-behold, I come across FlexAbility; however, not my FlexAbility, someone else’s. It was such a good name that someone else thought of it first. So, rather than confuse everyone when my site becomes big and famous, I thought that I would change the name. As I’m the only one reading this (oh yes, and the spammers), I don’t think I have to worry about someone confusing my site. This seems like a good compromise for a name though, so I think I’ll stick with it this time (and no other sites came up with my initial search so phpt!)

Welcome to FlexFusion!

I have no idea how the spam bots even found me, but Akismet already managed to capture one spam comment attempt. I set this blog up 2 days ago, logged on today and found 1 spam comment attempt. I guess I shouldn’t be too impressed as the spammers seem to always be on top of things, but come on, at least give regular people a chance to check things out before spamming me.

And on that note, what a brilliant plugin Akismet is. It looked at the comment, flagged it, and notified me in the admin section. Very nice!
